CENTRAL'S ROSTER NOT DEPLETED

Little Rock Central posted its best record under Coach Michael Greenlast season. But how will the Lady Tigers respond to losing three Division-I signees? Considering the Lady Tigers have three more D-1 seniors on this year's roster, Central may be poised for another quality season. "The cupboard is not bare," said Green, whose team finished 26-3 in March, advancing to the Class 7A semifinals. "We ought to make another strong run as long as we stay focused and put everything together." Central begins its season Thursday with a game against Joe T. Robinson on the opening day of the Ladies Hardwood Jam Showcase at Hall High School's George Cirks Arena. "Our team strengths will be what they always are -- team speed and athletic ability," Green said. "I think our ability to shoot the ball will be better this year. And, of course, our defensive pressure will be tough." A year ago, Central's Kiara Williams signed with the University of Arkansas, Alaysia Ready signed with Stephen F. Austin and Alexis Brown signed with Alcorn State. Within the next week, the Lady Tigers will have three more D-1 signees -- 5-10 guard Bre'Amber Scott is committed to Mississippi State; 6-3 forward Abigayle Jackson has selected Auburn; and 6-1 forward Kennedi Allen is a Southeast Missouri State commitment. "I've been fortunate," said Green, who begins his 23rd season as Central's head coach Thursday. "I've had a few in the last several years."
